Tiny House and Solar Energy: A Complete 2025 Guide

Solar panels for a tiny house – what you need to know

Every one of our models is pre-prepared for solar panel installation. But how many do you need, how big a battery, and what does it cost? We’ve calculated it for you.

How many solar panels does a tiny house need?

Model Max. panels Max. output Covers
Tiny house 5–7 5–6 pcs 2.64–3.96 kW 2–4 people, summer
Tiny house 8–9 6–7 pcs 3.96–4.62 kW 4–6 people, spring–autumn
Tiny house 11 (Titan, Prime) 9 pcs 5.94 kW 6 people, year-round
Tiny house 48 (fixed) 13 pcs 8.58 kW Family living

How does the system work in practice?

  • A summer day: The panels generate 20–40 kWh, the tiny house’s consumption is 3–8 kWh. The surplus charges the batteries.
  • A winter day (overcast): The panels generate 1–5 kWh. Backup: a wood stove + batteries.
  • Night: Power comes from the batteries (recommended capacity: at least 5 kWh = 2 EcoFlow Delta Pro batteries).

Recommended setup for year-round off-grid operation

  • 9 × 660W panels (5.94 kWp) – for 11m models
  • A 6 kW hybrid inverter/controller (Victron Energy or Huawei SUN2000)
  • 3–4 LiFePO4 batteries, totaling 10–15 kWh (EcoFlow, BYD, Pylontech)
  • A backup wood or pellet stove

Indicative installation price

  • 6 panels + a hybrid inverter + a 5 kWh battery: ~CZK 120,000
  • 9 panels + a hybrid inverter + a 10 kWh battery: ~CZK 200,000
  • A full off-grid set for the Titan 11: ~CZK 300,000–400,000

Monitoring and managing the solar system

Modern hybrid inverters (Victron, Huawei, Deye) offer a mobile app for monitoring generation and consumption in real time. At a glance you can see: panel output, battery status, household consumption, and surplus. Our customers greatly appreciate the peace of mind this monitoring brings – you know exactly how much energy you have left for the night.

Solar panel maintenance

Solar panels are practically maintenance-free. We recommend:

  • Rinsing with a hose twice a year (spring + autumn) to remove dust and bird droppings
  • A visual check of the frame mounting after strong wind
  • Checking cables and connectors every 2–3 years

Solar panel subsidies

A subsidy from the New Green Savings (Nová zelená úsporám) programme can be drawn for a solar installation on a tiny house (if the tiny house is a fixed structure). Subsidies generally aren’t available for vehicles – check current conditions at novazelenausporam.cz.
